The internet of objects is an Internet development in which every object of daily life has a network connectivity that allows it to exchange data. Today, 6.7 billion objects are connected worldwide, more than 20 billion will be connected by 2020. The connected objects market is booming and catalyses the digital transformation in the fields of smart cities, Transport, wearables, energy management, machine-to-machine (M2M), sales, etc. This market is globally estimated at $ 1700 billion in 2020 according to Forbes and $ 14.4 trillion In 2022 according to Cisco.

These connected objects generally collect information (geolocation, electricity consumption, payment, electrocardiogram, …) and transmit them via all types of networks (internet or other) or devices with and without contact to a “back-end” Application (cloud…). This information is stored, processed, analyzed, valued by several users (individuals, service providers, companies, …). The IoT is thus a very transdisciplinary field and addresses a broad spectrum of skills ranging from “hardware” to “software” having to respect the concepts of “privacy by design”. Who says Internet objects also says strong authentication of people, security of privacy and objects.
